The Writing Café is a hands-on session where artists bring real materials and leave with stronger words. From emails to bookers and agents, to grant writing basics, artist bios, and pitch development, this is a space to build, refine, and move your work forward.
Bring in your project and work through it with a team of industry pros. (And, yes, you can even use this session to shape your Slaight Music Video Program application!)

KELSEY MCNULTY
Kelsey McNulty is a Canadian composer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer with over 15 years of experience crafting distinctive, emotionally resonant work across genres and disciplines. Known for her expressive sound design and collaborative approach, she brings a producer’s mindset to every project—balancing musicality, technical precision, and emotional impact.
A sought-after collaborator, she has performed and recorded with artists including Great Lake Swimmers, Jadea Kelly, Begonia, Cat Clyde, Ben Caplan, contributing to more than 25 albums and touring extensively across Canada, the U.S., Europe, the U.K., and Australia.
Under her solo moniker, Good Fortune, she writes and produces genre-blurring work that merges retro-pop influences with cinematic sound design.
Her practice extends into screen composition, with credits including Gisele’s Mashup Adventure, North of North, and the upcoming Apple TV series Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed (2026), featuring her original song “Sosie.” Her work has also appeared in Kim’s Convenience, and she received the 2023 Toronto Independent Film Festival award for Best Music Video for “Mon Coeur.”
Kelsey is an active member of the Kingston Music Committee, where she champions the value of art and creativity as essential to a thriving community and champions environments where artistic expression can flourish and be meaningfully sustained.
NICOLE DANIELS
Nicole Daniels (she/her) is the Executive Director of the Kingston Arts Council (KAC), the region's primary arts service organization supporting the sector through funding, leadership, advocacy, and resources. In this role, Nicole oversees the administration of the City of Kingston Arts Fund and the Nan Yeomans Grant for Artistic Development. Prior to joining the KAC as Executive Director, Nicole held various roles with local arts organizations including the Tett Centre for Creativity and Learning, Skeleton Park Arts Festival, Union Gallery, and the KAC. She has also worked independently as a curator and collaborator with a range of artists, and has a background in programming, communications, grant writing, and arts administration.
